The textile surfaces found on ships are very stressed. The fibers from which they are woven are very susceptible to damage. They shake, change their color, fade until they finally fall apart completely. We contribute to this ourselves, especially mechanically, when we abrade the fibers on the seats, which is usually exacerbated by salt and sand by the sea. Sometimes even by some accident, when we manage to spill something or otherwise dirty our textiles. Furthermore, external influences can also cause fiber degradation. On the one hand, it is a combination of sun and salt water, on the other hand, aggressive bird droppings. Both lead to irreversible damage to the fibers and to the unsightly appearance of these textile surfaces. All this affects the durability of the fibers. The cleaning of textiles themselves is often the cause of faster destruction of surfaces. We can get rid of maps and stains from surfaces with cleaning and washing agents, but at the same time they weaken the fibers even more. Therefore, it is crucial to focus primarily on prevention.

Impregnation of textiles for ships - Nano Protect Textile BOAT penetrates into the structures of textile materials and forms an invisible layer around the fibers, which repels dirt and liquids and at the same time protects them. Textiles are resistant to moisture, are protected from dirt and stains and from aggressive substances such as coffee, blood, red wine, oil, fats, food residues or chemicals. Thanks to the water-repellent effect, liquids simply slip off the surface. If a stain does form on the surface, the fiber itself is protected and the stain can be cleaned well without damaging the fiber (during deep cleaning, it is necessary to reapply the textile protection). The product strengthens the fabric against abrasion and protects it from UV radiation even at variable temperatures. The treated surface thus resists damage, changes in color and aging. The protective layer is not visible and there are no changes to the touch.Always apply to surfaces free of all impurities and impregnations.

 

 

How does the textile protection work?

 

 

Package Contents and Consumption

The package is enough for up to 10 m2, the price for 1 m2 is 3 EUR/ m2. The package contains 100 ml of Protect Textil BOAT- Protection for man-made fiber textiles. Usually one layer is enough, exceptionally we recommend after the water repellency test if it is not 100% to put the second layer. (Consumption is given for one layer, consumption is lower for the second layer).

Salt vs. Fresh water

All products from BOAT series are adapted for extreme and demanding environments of marine conditions (salt water). Therefore, the protection is sufficient even for salt water. The only exceptions are polishes intended for the part of the ship below the waterline, where the difference between use in salt water and fresh water is better described at this protection, which we call the protection of Antifouling. The key is not to confuse Home products with Boat products. Household products are not made for such extreme conditions and their functionality could be limited, so there is also a price difference depending on the higher concentration of nanoparticles and active ingredients.

Application of nanocosmetics

The application of our products is not complicated at all. You only need to follow 3 steps. The surface must be  thoroughly cleaned first and then degreased. Then spray the protective polish and leave on for 24 hours. For coarse fabrics, we recommend applying more layers. Always read the current manual.

 

Surface preparation

Follow the steps below to clean. First, remove all dirt and stains from the surface.

The PIKATEC deep cleaner is ideal for cleaning dirty or faded textiles. After spraying, let it work for a while, then wipe with a microfiber cloth or a soft brush. Then degrease the surface with our degreaser. For new boats, we recommend only degreasing the surface before application, with our degreaser. You can apply a protective polish directly to the surface prepared in this way, please follow the instructions below.

Surface maintenance after application

Surfaces treated with Pikatec nanocosmetics are smoother, much more resistant to damage and only water and a microfiber cloth are sufficient for their maintenance. Wipe off any dirt lightly with it, the treated surfaces will always look like new. If the surface remains greasy even after wiping with a cloth, we recommend degreasing it once in a while with our degreaser for restoring the hydrophobic effect and the surface also will be less dirty. If there is more dirt or pushing dirt between the fibers, use a PIKATEC deep cleaner. In the case of using a degreaser or deep cleaner, we recommend re-applying the impregnation with our protection. (This only applies to textile surfaces; for others, you will not remove them with standard cleaning chemicals.)

 

Application of Protective Polishes

We always apply on a properly prepared surface. Cleaned, degreased and dried. Check the material for traces of water droplets or other stains. These need to be removed before application, otherwise you could "preserve" them in the polish and it would be very difficult to get rid of them. On a dry and cleaned fabric, apply a thin continuous layer of Nano Protect Textile BOAT from a distance of 20-30 cm using a sprayer. For larger areas, a spray gun can also be used for industrial use. In the case of a thick fabric, we recommend "massaging" the applied layer with a non-absorbent cloth into the fabric structure. Nano Protect Textile BOAT thus has better access to the fibers. Let it dry at normal room temperature or at a temperature up to max. 40 ° C. For coarsely woven fabrics, we recommend applying two or more layers by spraying the first layer on the surface in the horizontal direction, letting it dry and then applying another layer in the direction vertical. The protective effect occurs about 1 hour after the final drying.

The optimal protective effect occurs only after 24 hours, when the nanoparticles settle on the surface and form a protective shield.

Aditional informations:

  • There are air gaps between the individual fibers of each fabric. The coarser the fabric is woven, the larger the gaps between the individual fibers, and because the protective polish binds only to the fibers, it does not fill these gaps. Spilled liquid, especially if it is a stronger stream, can flow into the coarse textiles due to air gaps, but it will not damage the fiber itself.
  • Because we do not know how coarsely the fabric is woven, for this reason we recommend always wiping up the spilled liquid as soon as possible.
